Winemakers Dinner Friday April 15th with Marco Cecchini

e are excited to Welcome Marco Cecchini from Fruli Venzia, Italy. Marco is a winemaker who refers to his business as an independent winery allowing him to be an artisan in winemaking and an artist in terrior.

For the evening we will be offering a variety of Marco’s wines. These wines will be offered by the glass, bottle and in a flight. Or enjoy all 4 wines in our winemakers dinner.

Pinot Grigio d’Orsaria The grapes are harvested from the hill country of Friuli creating ideal conditions for Pinot Grigrio. This elegant Pinot Grigio is straw yellow in colour with aromas of acacia blossom and toasted almonds. The wine is fresh and crisp to taste with a full flavoured palate that is dry and a slight bitterish twist to finish. We are excited to feature this wine and see what you think as it will be a new addition to our wine list. Be the first to try it.

Pinot Grigio IGT This Pinot Grigio is a little different as the grape juice is fermented with it’s skins for 2 to 4 hours then followed by weekly battonage. The skin contact and weekly battonage gives the wine a golden colour with a more intense aromas of exotic ripe fruits and a fresh long lasting finish.

Malatesta Rosso We are happy to feature this wine as it is unique. The wine is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso. The wine is vinified by Carbonic Maceration (same process as Beaujolais) then bottled without filtering to allow for natural lees that help maintain preservatives and reduce the additional sulphites. Due to the wine being unfiltered it is cloudy with a light red colour. The aromas are of cherry, ripe plum and a hint of cotton candy. It is a red fruit wine with a smooth spicy finish.

Refosco del Peduncolo Rosso The full bodied red wine is made with 100% Refosco Dal Peduncolo Rosso is predominantly grown in Venezia Giulia and evidence suggest is it indigenous to Italy. The Refosco has massive tannins that are round and refined due to the aging for 16 months in French barriques. The colour is ruby red with aromas on plums and blackberries.
